2012 Cemetery of the Year
Live Oak Cemetery District received the R.W. Thomas Annual "Cemetery of the Year" award from the Public Cemetery Alliance at its annual conference in October, 2011. The District was recognized for overall improvements in its services and for overall improvements in its services and of its grounds including the conversion of an existing shop to a committal chapel and the establishment of a Veterans Memorial area. In addition, it was chosen for th e"Business of the Year" award by the Live Oak Chamber of Commerce.

Interesting Facts
Eleven year old Sherman Menno Shoemake was killed with five companions on May 5, 1945 by enemy bomb in Bly, Oregon. One of six casualties on U.S. soil during World War II. He was buried in Live Oak Cemetery in 1945.
